Kay Walther
Managing Partner
Experience
Kay joined Blazek & Vetterling in 1994 and became a partner of the firm in 2002. Her principal duties are to lead the firm as managing partner, supervise audits as the engagement partner and to act as the consulting partner to other engagement teams. Her clients include schools, churches, environmental organizations, private and public foundations, affordable housing organizations, social service agencies, and arts. She also plays a significant role in the firm’s staff training, mentoring, and evaluation.
In addition to having expertise in accounting and auditing standards established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, she has significant experience with clients with federal and state funds that are required to follow government auditing standards established by the federal government and its various agencies. Kay’s experience serving private and public foundations includes knowledge of program related and other alternative investments, grants, and other financial reporting issues.
Kay has a passion for volunteerism and those who serve nonprofit organizations. Kay is a highly sought-after speaker on technical, governance and management subjects for nonprofits and has presented seminars on nonprofit governance and financial reporting at both local and national venues. She has been a faculty member at the Rice University Leadership Institute for nonprofit Executives since its founding in 2007.
