Experience

Laurie joined Blazek & Vetterling in 2003 with fourteen years of combined experience in public accounting and non-profit financial leadership. Her clients include social service agencies, schools and healthcare organizations. Laurie is an authority on federal and state single audits, and charter schools. She serves as our designated audit quality partner to the AICPA’s Government Audit Quality Center.

Additionally, she leads the firm’s talent development initiatives which include recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, mentoring initiatives and continuing education. She shares her enthusiasm of working with nonprofits through speaking at college campuses encouraging the next generation to serve the nonprofit community.

Laurie has been an instructor for the Leadership Institute for Nonprofit Executives at the Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at RICE University, the United Way of Greater Houston, the United Way National Financial and Talent Management Forum and other conferences.
